IPTV is becoming a big hit with the general public, but doubts are very frequently expressed about its quality and reliability. Increased success on mass markets will therefore be possible only if quality baselines are set up at the same time.
ip-label.newtest measures the quality of IPTV transmissions and VoD (video on demand) as perceived by the end user:

To measure image quality, ip-label.newtest relies on the objective methods for evaluating video quality recommended by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), J 144-R: objective perceptual video quality measurement techniques for digital cable television in the presence of a full reference.
These methods make it possible to assess the quality of the entire digital delivery infrastructure: - quality of video sources
- quality of encoding/translation of transmissions
- quality of the transmission network
- quality of decoding
